Blue Mtn, MS.- Robert Derek Rodgers, 32, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. He was born April 19, 1980 to Robert Nelson and Sandra Gail Rodgers. He was a Staff Sergeant at Marshall County Correctional in Holly Springs. He was dedicated to his team members and an active CERT member. He worked very hard at keeping those he loved safe inside and outside his facility. He was a beloved husband, father, son and friend.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Church of The Lord Jesus Christ in Blue Mountain. with Bro. Joe McKnight and AWO Michael Millwood officiating. Burial will be in Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Erica Rodgers of Corinth; his parents, Robert Nelson and Sandra Rodgers of Blue Mountain; one daughter, Virginia "Gina" Grace Rolison Rodgers; step-daughter, Kayla Jade Clemmer, both of Ripley; grandparents, Robert Eugene and Evangeline Rodgers of Blue Mountain, Edna and James Alsip of Booneville; uncles, Kim and Tonya Rodgers of Falkner, Jason and Angie Rodgers of Ripley, and James and Lindsey Alsip of Saltillo; aunts, Darlene and Bobby Otts of Hickory Flat, Marlene and Steve Cissom of Ripley, Sonya and Dean Floyd of Blue Mountain, and Cindy and James McClusky of Ripley; a very special friend, Beth Jackson and son, Carter of Michigan City;and eighteen cousins.

Pallbearers will be MCC of CERT Team, Lt. Eric Reliford, Sgt. James Tunstall, Sgt. Tonya Stewart, Sgt. Adam Davis, Sgt. Cecil Lewis, Joseph Wilson, Dianne Humphrey, and David Brown. Honorary Pallbearers, AWO Michael Millwood, Sgt. Mike Rice, Jeff Butler, Josh Rodgers, Delton Cissom, Peyton Reno, Matt Robinson, Randy Floyd, Justin Akins, and Tyler Rodgers.

He was preceded in death by a son, Damian Zane Rodgers; cousin, Whitney Michelle Alsip.
