With broken hearts and with the knowledge that our Heavenly Father will give us strength to endure, the family of Alicia Lynn Akins asks for your prayers in the loss of our much loved Alicia who tragically died on May 25, 2017 at the age of 31.
  Services cherishing the life of Alicia will be at 11 AM Thursday June 1 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. The officiating ministers will be Bro. Wayne Cobb, Pastor of Academy Baptist Church and special remarks given by a long time friend Bro. Lamar Grisham. Burial will follow in The Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner.
  Born November 15, 1985 in Union County, she was the daughter of Terry and Carol Waldon Akins of Ripley. She received her education in the Ripley Public School System and was a graduate of Florida State Technical Institute with a degree in Criminal Justice. she was employed by the Ashley Corporation in Ripley at the time of her death. A Christian, Alicia was baptized at the age of six at The Academy Baptist Church and in recent years attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in New Albany.
  Alicia will be remembered as a family oriented person with a deep love for her children, relatives and many friends. A devoted mother, she had a "heart of gold" for both people and animals. Alicia enjoyed many outdoor activities that included riding 4-wheelers, sports and loved listening to music.
  Those also left to cherish her memory include her children, Kylei Akins, Talen, Paisleigh and Ryder Yates all of Ripley and many friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joshua "Butterbean" Akins, grandparents, Johnnie and Ethel Waldon, Noal and Opal Akins and a step grandfather, Joe Little.
  Those honored to serve as active pallbearers will be Ben Ridge, Judd, Shane and Morgan Akins, Chris Osten and Kenneth Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Lambert, Craig Flake, Christian Hays, Dake Vandygriff, Scottie Weaver and Stacy Fugit.
  The family request that memorials be directed to the North Mississippi Chapter of SAFE (Shelter and Assistance in Family Emergencies), 105 Clark Place, Tupelo, MS 38804.
