GOD SAID "I NEED A MAN WITH A HEART LARGER THAN LIFE, WITH A COMPASSION AND CONCERN GREATER FOR THE LIVES HE TOUCHED RATHER THAN HIS OWN. A MAN DESTINED TO BECOME A BELOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, PAPAW AND FRIEND." SO GOD GAVE US CLAY GARRETT. FOR THIS WE ARE TRULY THANKFUL, AND ON SATURDAY MORNING SEPTEMBER 16, 2017, WE GAVE BACK TO GOD THIS GIFT THAT HE SO GRACIOUSLY SHARED WITH US.

Andrew Clay Garrett, 80, lifelong resident of Tippah County and devoted husband of Evonne Dees Garrett for 57 years, peacefully passed from this life in the comfort of his home.
Funeral Services celebrating the Christian life of Clay will be at 11 AM Tuesday September 19 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his pastor, Bro. Wayne Cobb officiating assisted by long time friend, Bro. Randy Isbell. Special music will be provided by his son, Jeff Garrett. Burial will follow in The Peoples Cemetery near Ripley. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born in Ripley on August 10, 1937, Clay was the son of the late William Harrison and Ruby Montgomery Garrett. He was a 1955 graduate of Pine Grove High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Seoul, Korea from July 1956 to August 1958. On March 5, 1960 Clay married the love of his life, the former Evonne Dees, who survives.
In earlier years Clay will be remembered by his many friends as a salesman for Tippah Wholesale Company. For much of his life he served as an Insurance Agent in North Mississippi for the Liberty National/American General Insurance Company until his retirement. In later years Clay received much pleasure in assisting families in their time of need at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Known for his strong work ethic and integrity, Clay will be remembered as a people person who loved his family and became a friend to all of those he came in contact with.
A member of Academy Baptist Church and a Bible Scholar with a love for outdoor activities, Clay's pleasures included caring for his bee hives and working in his yard.
Clay and Von welcomed the births of their grandchildren and great grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments.
