 Buster Edward "Ed" Glissen, , 86, resident of the Ripley Community and retired employee of Bilt-Rite Corporation, passed away Monday morning December 11, 2017 at his home in Ripley following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services for Mr. Glissen will be at 2 PM Wednesday December 13 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Goode, pastor of New Life Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Lowry Cemetery near Ripley. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born December 15, 1930 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late William Patrick and Wilma Hurt Glissen. Mr. Glissen received his education in the Spout Springs School System and in 1948, married his beloved wife of 51 years, Myrtie Mauney Glissen who preceded him in death on April 29, 1999.
  A Christian, Mr. Glissen attended New Life Pentecostal Church as long as health permitted and was a longtime member of the Ripley Masonic Lodge.
  An avid gardener with a lifelong love for music, Mr. Glissen enjoyed the outdoors that included fishing, squirrel hunting and deer hunting. He found much pleasure in playing the guitar and singing with his family and friends.
  Visitation will continue Wednesday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Esther Tigrett, his son, Keith Glissen (Tami), both of Ripley, a sister, Geraldine Dillard (Gene) , a brother, Buford Glissen (Martha), both of Ripley, four grandchildren Veronica Knowles (Kyle), Nikki Bass (Barry), Elizabeth and Mallory Glissen and three great grandchildren, Danielle Wilbanks, Joseph and Cobie Knowles.
  Mr. Glissen was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Glissen, two sisters, Jamie Robbins, Gladys Brock and one brother, Russell Glissen.
