 Cornelius "Demp" Thomas, Jr., 76, resident of the Ripley Community, lifelong Tippah Countian and beloved husband of Geraldine Casteel Thomas, passed away peacefully Monday morning April 10, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.
  Services honoring the life of Demp will be at 1 PM Thursday April 13 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his nephew, Bro. Steven Thomas and Bro. Clay Pritchett, both of Trinity Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery.
  Born January 8, 1941 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Kay and Mamie Lee Greer Thomas. Demp will be remembered as a self employed logger in the Tippah County area before his retirement. He received his education in the Tippah County Public School System and was married April 28, 1967 for almost 50 years to his beloved wife, the former Geraldine Casteel, who survives.
  Demp wa a Baptist by faith and in earlier years served as member of the Mississippi National Guard. He will be remembered by his family as an avid fisherman who could fish everyday and never tire of this favorite pastime.
  Visitation for Demp will continue Thursday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those also left to honor his memory are: his brother, Miles Thomas (Louise), 2 nephews, Steven Thomas (Toby) of Ripley and Jonathan Waldon of Booneville, 2 great nieces, Chloe Thomas and Anna Lauren Barkley both of Ripley and a great nephew, Shane Barkley (Rennon) of Sherman. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar, Robert and James Thomas.
  The flag at The Funeral Home entrance honors Mr. Thomas and all members of the Mississippi National Guard for service to our country. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
