Dorothy "Dot" Jamieson Ketchum, 81, longtime resident of Tippah County and retired nurse, joined her Heavenly Father and family on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Services celebrating the well lived life of Ms. Ketchum will be at 4 PM Sunday, February 26 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with longtime family friend and her former pastor, Bro. Malcolm George officiating. Burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.
Born October 25, 1935 in Tippah County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Lois Benson Jamieson. Ms. Ketchum was a graduate of Ripley High School and received her Nursing Degree from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.
Ms. Ketchum will be remembered for her passion of nursing and as a caregiver to many. She had a generous life of service to her Lord and fellowman. In earlier years she was an active member of the Ripley Parent and Teachers Organization and Junior Auxillary. She was a monumental influence in the formation of the first band program in the Ripley School System. Ms. Ketchum served as a Pink Lady for the Tippah County Hospital and was a Girl Scout Leader and also a Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts.
Ms. Ketchum was an active member of the Ripley Church of Christ for many years and will be remembered as a loyal Ole Miss supporter and sports fan.
Visitation will continue Sunday at The Ripley Funeral Home until service time at 4 PM.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her children, Mary Lyon (John) of Prattville, AL, David Ketchum of Dallas, TX and Tom Ketchum of Saltillo, her sisters, Mary Wilbanks (RJ) of Southaven, Linda Nance of Shannon and Beverly Cole (Kevin) of Oxford, 2 grandchildren, Mark Daniel Ketchum and Gracie Smith and many cherished friends and her family at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Mark and Mike Ketchum, 2 sisters, Addie Mae Jamieson and Frances Wammack and 2 brothers, Rufus and Jessie V. Jamieson.
Those honored to serve as active and honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Cole, Bobby Jamieson, Kenneth Jamieson, David Ketchum, Keith and Ken Nance, Tommy Wammack and RJ Wilbanks.
