Earl Dwain Barkley, 72, lifelong resident of the Falkner Community and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away Sunday April 8, 2018 in the comfort of his home following an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Barkley will be at 1 PM Wednesday April 11 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with North Mississippi Hospice Chaplain, Willi V. Crum officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Creek Cemetery near Falkner.
Born September 2, 1945 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Steve Earl and Dora Pearl Dayberry Barkley. Mr. Barkley received his education in the Falkner Public Schools and was a valued employee of the Woodcraft Corporation in Tippah County for twenty years before his retirement 10 years ago. On February 3, 1978 he married his beloved wife, the former Doris Brock who survives.
A Christian who enjoyed attending churches of all denominations, Mr. Barkley was a member of Cedar Mound Baptist Church on the Tippah/ Alcorn County line.
Mr. Barkley was a very simple, humble man who respected honesty, hard work and perseverance. He had a great love for nature and outdoors that included his favorite pastime, gardening.
He will be remember for his love of Jesus Christ, for family and for home. A true southern gentleman with an unwavering faith and a huge heart, he will long be remembered and missed by family and friends.
Visitation will continue Wednesday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Angie Burton (Tommy) and Renae Barkley, both of Walnut, one brother, Bobby Barkley (Billie) of Holly Springs, four grandchildren, Kyle Burton, Heather Hopper, Michael Hopper (Rachel) and Tucker Barkley and five great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lavern Barkley and two sisters, Joyce McDowell and Faye Parker.
Those honored to serve as active and honorary pallbearers will be the much loved grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews of Mr. Barkley.
