 Edward Wayne Smithey, 69, lifelong resident of the Tippah, Union and Prentiss County areas and husband of Rachel Thomas Smithey, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening January 3, 2017 at his residence.
  Services honoring the life of Wayne will be at 2 PM Thursday, January 12 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. A private family burial will be in the Vista Memorial Park Cemetery at New Albany. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born November 16, 1947 in Union County, he was the son of the late Boyce and Rebecca Bonnichsen Smithey.
  For many years, Wayne was well known in the Union, Tippah and Prestiss County areas as a siding installer and operating Smithey Siding Company for over 42 years before his retirement one year ago. He was a Christian and a lifelong resident of North Mississippi. Known for his humor and never meeting a stranger, Wayne will be remembered for his love of family gatherings and cooking.
  Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time Thursday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those also left to honor his memory are his children, Rhonda Nelson (Brian) of Potts Camp, Michael Kiddy (Amy) and David Kiddy, both of Myrtle and Gary Kiddy (Kim) of Sebastapol. MS, a sister, Doris Smithey of Branson, MO, 2 brothers, Jerry Smithey (Susan) of Aurora, IL and Kenny Smithey (Angie) of Myrtle, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Smithey, a brother, Gene Smithey, a granddaughter, Lacey Kiddy and a great grand daughter, Paisley Hall.
