Erna Ruth Paseur, 90, lifelong resident of the Pine Grove Community and devoted wife of the late Bro. Elmer Paseur, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon December 6, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Mrs. Paseur will be at 2 PM Saturday December 9 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral with her son, Bro. David Paseur, grandsons, Bro. Josh Paseur and Dr. Lee Yancey and son in law, Dr. Rex Yancey officiating. Graveside Service will be in Tippah Memorial Gardens with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born March 27, 1927 in Ripley, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Annie Lee Ledbetter Dunnam. Mrs. Paseur was Valedictorian of her 1945 Centre High School graduating class. On October 30, 1946 she married her beloved husband of 70 years, Bro. Elmer Paseur, retired businessman and minister, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2016.
Mrs. Paseur worked alongside her husband in all their business endeavors. She was the bookeeper for the Blue and White Service Station and the Union 76 Station in Ripley for 14 years and was also the hushpuppy cooker in Pasuer's Fish House for 14 years. They both worked together at night for The Ripley Funeral Home. She made the coffee as he greeted visitors.
Mrs. Paseur loved to sew. She sewed clothes for her family and pieced together quilts in her leisure time.
When Elmer felt God's call for the ministry, she willingly traveled with him to all the churches he served. She studied with him at Emory University as he prepared for the ministry. When Elmer had to retire at age 70 in the Methodist Church, she was ready and willing to follow him in building a nondenominational church on Hwy 2, known as the "log cabin church" which was named Victory Chapel. They were able to serve there for 14 years. Their life was the epitome of true love. They always put the Lord first in their lives.
Visitation will continue Saturday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories include her children, Myra Ellon Yancey (Rex), David Paseur (Lydia) and Randle Paseur (Kristy) all of Ripley, a sister, Ann Studdard (Max) of Ripley, six grandchildren, Lee Yancey (Courtney) of Brandon, Lori Cooper (Brian) of Denver, NC, Jessica Paseur of Falkner and Josh Paseur (Amanda) of Ripley along with their mother Nancy Jackson of Falkner, Micah Welch (Bre) of Tupelo and Rachel Cline (Jared) of Adamsville, TN, six great grandchildren, Benton and Blakely Yancey, Caden Stites, Ava West , Ari Paseur and Jaden Cline, two wonderful caregivers, Anita Campbell and Joan Eggleston and a host of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Leila Waldon, Nell Holliday and Bonnie Dunnam, a brother, Sammie Dunnam and a niece, Edith Garrard.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Elliott, Dr. Troy Cappleman, Kindred Hospice and the nurses at Tippah County Hospital for their compassion and care.
