Geraldine Casteel Thomas, 73, resident of the Palmer Community, longtime Tippah Countian and beloved wife of the late Cornelius "Demp" Thomas, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening April 25, 2017 at Diversicare Retirement Center in Ripley following a brief illness.
  Services honoring the life of Mrs. Thomas will be at 2 PM Friday April 28 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with her nephew, Bro. Steven Thomas and Bro. Clay Pritchett, both of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Ripley officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
  Born November 8, 1943 in Aberdeen, MS, she was the daughter of the late John and Lula Mae Parham Casteel. Mrs. Thomas moved with her family at an early age to Tippah County and was a 1963 graduate of Pine Grove High School. On April 28, 1967 she married her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Cornelius "Demp" Thomas, Jr. who preceded her in death fifteen days ago on April 10, 2017.
  A Baptist by faith, Mrs. Thomas was a former caregiver at Golden Living Retirement Center for over 10 years and considered her primary occupation throughout life as a devoted homemaker, wife and friend. She will be remembered for her love of outdoors that included flowers and vegetable gardens. Her life has been enriched immeasurably by nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and their families, all of whom will miss her dearly.
  Those left to cherish her memory are: her sister, Ella Sue Waldon (Wayne) of Booneville, her brother, Rex Casteel of Ripley, brother and sister in law, Miles and Louise Thomas of Ripley, 2 nephews, Steven Thomas (Toby) of Ripley and Jonathan Waldon of Booneville, 2 great nieces, Anna Lauren Barkley and Chloe Thomas both of Ripley, a great nephew, Shane Barkley (Rennon) of Saltillo and special friends, Samantha and Ethan Meeks, Linda Penna and James Penna.
