Henry Waldrop Chapman, 85, resident of Blue Mountain, long time Tippah Countian and beloved husband of Opal Rogers Chapman, passed away Sunday morning January 8, 2017 at Diversicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Ripley.
A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home from 6 PM to 8 PM. Private family burial will be Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Tippah County.
Born December 13, 1931 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Clovis and Martha Bartlett Chapman. Mr. Chapman received his education at Pine Grove High School and was a member of North Ripley Baptist Church.
In earlier years, Mr. Chapman worked for Gulf Oil Company and Chevron Oil Company on off-shore oil rigs until his retirement 25 years ago. His friends and family will remember him for his love of shrimp cook-outs and woodworking. Anyone who knew Henry will also remember him for his generous nature, his devotion to family and friends. An avid story teller he enjoyed sharing "earlier years" for those he came in contact with.
Mr. Chapman also leaves his step daughter, Graple Hill and many nieces & nephews to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Ruby Bell, Eunice Robbins, Dovie Gates, Elwanda Tapp and Marjorie Martin and 3 brothers, Bobby, Randolph and Jim Chapman.

The Ripley Funeral Home is honored to serve the Chapman Family and invites you to sign the guestbook and share memories.
