Hubert Dwayne Rodgers, resident of the Blue Mountain Community , lifelong Tippah Countian and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, passed away peacefully Thursday morning October 19, 2017 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. He was 79 years old and died following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Mr. Rodgers will be at 11 AM Saturday October 21 at The Sanctuary Church on Hwy 15 near New Albany with church pastor, Rev. Tony Baker officiating assisted by Mr. Rodgers nephew, Rev. Jerry Swatley. Burial will follow at the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery in Blue Mountain. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born May 8, 1938 in Blue Mountain, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Mary O'zella Bagwell Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a 1957 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and in earlier years was a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was married on March 2, 1962 to his beloved wife, the former Patricia Bell, a native of Memphis, who survives.
  Known by many for his strong work ethic, Mr. Rodgers was a valued employee for APAC Corporation for over 44 years before his retirement in 2001. A faithful member of The Sanctuary Church, Mr. Rodgers gave generously of his time and support in numerous Christian activities of the church that were an important part of his life.
  An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Rodgers will be remembered for his love of yard work, vegetable gardening , having a "servant's heart" and Christian values. He was known and respected as a pillar of strength by his family and leaves a legacy of love and concern for others. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
  Visitation will continue Saturday at Sanctuary Church from 10 AM until service time.
  In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Denise Collins (Ricky) of Collierville, TN, his son, Michael Rodgers (Sarah) of Ripley, three sisters, Mary Swatley of Cordova, TN, Maxine Stark of New Albany and Judy Spencer (Pat) of Germantown, two brothers, Eugene Rodgers (Evangeline) of Blue Mountain and Virgil Rodgers (Barbara) of New Albany, a sister in law, Joye Rodgers of Blue Mountain, four grandchildren, Timothy Harris (Nichole), Jordan Harris (Bethany), Brody and Caytee Rodgers and three great grandchildren, Levi, Anna Kayte and Camdyn Harris.
  Mr. Rodgers was also preceded in death by a brother, James Rodgers.
  "I HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED THE RACE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH. FINALLY A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH THE LORD, THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE, WILL GIVE ME ON THE DAY, AND NOT TO ME ONLY BUT ALSO TO ALL WHO HAVE LOVED HIS APPEARING."
