Joe David Caviness
November 15, 1950 ~ May 13, 2016 (age 65) 65 Years OldTippah County - Joe David Caviness, 65, resident of the Three Forks Community near Walnut and employee of Carrier Air Conditioning Corp. in Collierville for 30 years before his retirement, died Friday morning May 13, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness. Services honoring the life of Joe will be at 2 p.m. Sunday May 15 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Oakland Cemetery near Walnut. A native of Ashland and a member of Medlock United Methodist Church, Joe had been a resident of the Three Forks Community for over 30 years. He was a Certified First Responder and a devoted volunteer of the Three Forks Fire Dept. for over 30 years where he served as Safety Officer. Joe cherished his family and will be remembered for his love of vehicle repairs and hunting. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Saturday, May 14 and will continue from 12 noon until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home. He leaves his wife, Laurie Green Caviness, his children, Kimberly Earnest of Pontotoc, Ricky Joe Caviness of New Albany, Joshua Waldrop (Mandy) of Ripley and Ethan Waldrop of Walnut, mother-in-law, Shirley Green of Walnut, 8 grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob and Hannah Earnest, Daisy, J.J., Brentley, Bethany and Lexi Waldrop, a special niece, Lesa Jones (Marty) and a host of nephews. He is the brother of Bobby Caviness, Jimmy Caviness, Barbara Caviness and Bettie Bass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lucille Caviness and his father-in-law, James Green.
