Jose Maria Samines Meletz, 32, resident of New Albany and former resident of Ripley, died Sunday March 18, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Chickasaw County.
  Funeral Services for Jose will be at 7 PM Friday March 23 in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Bowers of Grace Pointe Church in New Albany officiating. Burial will be in his native country of Guatemala at a later date. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Jose was born March 19, 1985 in Solola, Guatemala. he was a former resident of Memphis and had been a resident of the Ripley & New Albany areas for a number of years. His passion was preparing food and he served as a cook and chef for various restaraunts in North Mississippi that included Golden China in Ripley and Yamato in New Albany.
  A Christian, Jose enjoyed sports with a particular love for soccer. He treasured times with his many friends and shared his culinary talents with others. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and community.Visitation for Jose will be Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Survivors include his children, Sintya, Yeimi and Axel Samines Morales, his parents, Dominga Melets Ajcalon, two sisters, Juana and Rosalia Samines, all of Guatemala and two brothers, Mateo Samines of Guatemala and Sebastian Samines of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Maria Samines Julalu.
