 Lyndon D. "Lynn" Beard, 86, resident of the Mitchell Community in Tippah County , US Naval Veteran and devoted husband of the late Juerhee Stroupe Beard, quietly departed this life Thursday morning August 18, 2016 in the comfort of his home following an extended illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Beard will be at 2 PM Saturday August 20 at the Chapman Church of Christ where he was a longtime member. Officiating will be Minister Mark Lindley and personal remarks will be given by his son in law, Bro. Ed Castell. Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born in Mobile, AL , August 27, 1929, Lynn was the son of the late Thomas and Charlene McDanal Beard. He was a 20 year Veteran of the US Navy and was married for 63 years before the death of his beloved wife in 2012. Mr. Beard was an employee of the US Postal Service in Ripley for over 20 years before his retirement. He will be remembered as a person devoted to his family, his church, his community and his country. He will greatly missed by all who were touched by his caring ways. He and his family enjoyed traveling and camping and he served as Chaplain of his Good Sams Travel Club Chapter. Lynn enjoyed woodworking and vegetable gardening as long as health permitted.
  Visitation will continue today from 12 Noon until service time at the church.
  He is survived by his daughter, Iris Cecellia Casteel (Ed) of Batesville, MS, his son Dalton Beard (Marie) of New Albany, a sister, Sue Beard of TX, 5 grandchildren,Amy Chapman (Bo),Michael Casteel (Nikki), Barbara Stubblefield (Patrick), Eric Casteel, Renae Frain, 6 great grandchildren, Mikayla Chapman, Will, Ryan, Cory Casteel, Joshua Stubblefield, Cadence Frain and his special caregiver and friend, Mattie Jones, who made it possible for Mr. Beard to remain at the home he loved. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Charlene Beard, a sister, Evelyn Beard and brothers, Thomas and Henry Beard.
  Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jody Criswell, David Smith, Larry Simmons, Larry Wood, J.C. Newby and Johnny Cissom.
  The American Flag at The Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Mr. Beard and all Veterans for service to our Country.
