 Martin Lewis Henderson, 64, well known resident of the Falkner Community, dispatcher for the Tippah County Sheriff's Department and husband of the late Jamie McMillan Henderson, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home.
   Graveside Services honoring the life of Mr. Henderson will begin at 3 PM Sunday at The Ripley Funeral Home with a procession to the Falkner Cemetery led by Tippah County Emergency Responders and Law Enforcement Agencies. A visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Saturday Evening at The Ripley Funeral Home and friends and family are welcome to gather at 2 :30 PM Sunday at the funeral home to participate in the procession.
  Born June 29, 1952 in Jackson, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Lewis and Jane Hurst Henderson. Mr. Henderson was a graduate of Madison High School and received his B.A. Degree in Music from the University of Mississippi. He had served in earlier years as a Band Director in the Itawamba County Public School System. Martin had a lifelong interest and love for law enforcement and served in this compacity in Madison before moving with his family to Tippah County in 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie McMIllan Henderson, a kindergarten teacher in Tippah County before her death in 2009.
  Martin continued his interest in law enforcement by serving as a Tippah County Fire and EMS Coordinator and in recent years served as a Dispatcher for the Tippah County Sheriff's Department.
  A Methodist and lifelong resident of Mississippi, Martin will be remembered as an avid conversationalist who never met a stranger. He was devoted to his family and possessed a passion for music, riding motorcycles and always supporting his children. He is survived by his children, Sarah Johnson (Dustin) of Medina, TN and Matthew Henderson (Cassi)of Torrance, CA, his sisters, Brenda Kirby (Ralph) of Richland, MS, Janet Schmidt (Bryan) of Kiezer, OR and his grandson, Nathan Martin Henderson. Active and Honorary pallbearers will include members of all Tippah County Law Enforcement and Emergency Responders.
  The American Flag at The Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Mr. Henderson and all Tippah County Law Enforcement Agencies. The Family requests that memorials be made to any Tippah County Law Enforcement or Emergency Department.
