 Mary Helen Short Grisby, 76, resident of the Ripley Community, passed away Saturday morning December 31, 2016 at the Cabot Health & Rehabilitation Center in Cabot, AR where she had been a patient for 1 week.
  A Funeral Service honoring the life of Ms. Grigsby will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery near Ripley.
  A native of the Falkner Community, Ms. Grigsby was born August 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Clayton and Rennie Meeks Short. She received her education in the Tippah County Public School System and was a resident of Tippah County for most of her life. Ms. Grigsby resided in Memphis in earlier years and had recently moved to Cabot, AR to be near her family.
  A visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A Baptist, Ms. Grigsby was a homemaker for much of her life and will be remembered for her pleasant, outgoing personality and her ever present smile.
  A family oriented person, Ms. Grigsby enjoyed being with those near and dear to her. She enjoyed a variety of interests that included watching WWE wrestling on TV, caring for her pet dogs and loved having her picture taken and shared on Facebook. Ms. Grigsby was an avid Elvis fan who in earlier years enjoyed dancing and shopping.
  Those left to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Jane Grisby Murchinson of Memphis, her son, Terry Grigsby (Tammy) of Jacksonville, AR, a sister, Rachel Hunsucker of Byhalia, a brother, James "Pudge" Short of Southaven, 3 grandchildren, Aaron and Sean Grigsby and Timothy Monasco and 4 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wayne Grigsby and a brother, Wayne Short.
  Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
