Melba Strickland Orman

Benton County -   Melba Strickland Orman, 88, resident of the Ashland Community and native Tippah Countian, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Thursday evening August 31, 2017 at her home in Ashland.
  Funeral Services for Mrs. Orman will be at 3 PM Sunday September 3 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow in Orman Family Cemetery in Benton County.
  Born June 16, 1929 in Tippah County, Mrs. Orman was the daughter of the late James Horace and Lillie Hopkins Strickland. She received her education at the Frederick Line Public School in Tippah County and was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Orman was the wife of the late Clyde "Pink" Orman, retired employee of Wurlitzer Piano Company in Holly Springs, who died in 1997.
  She was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the ABC Manufacturing Company in Ashland. Mrs. Orman enjoyed outdoor activities that included flowers and vegetable gardening.
  Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Vicki Orman and Cathy Hobson (Randy) both of Ashland, two sisters, Dorothy Orman of Falkner and Darleene Hartley of Ashland, a brother, Billy Strickland of Ashland, three grandchildren, Ashley Robinson (Bobby), Derek Hobson (Olivia) and Casey Hobson and a great granddaughter, Lily Robinson.
  Mrs. Orman was also preceded in death by five brothers, Hilliard, Montroy, Kyle, Clyce and David Strickland.
