 Nettie Tapp Brown, 93, resident of the Three Forks Community near Walnut and a native Tippah Countian, departed this life peacefully surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home on Friday morning January 19, 2018.
  Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Mrs. Brown will be at 11 AM Monday January 22 at her beloved Oakland Baptist Church with Bro. Don Wilson officiating assisted by Bro. James Melton. Burial will follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery near Walnut. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Mrs. Brown and her late twin sister, Natlie Gray were born January 30, 1924 in Tippah County, the daughters of the late Samuel Oscar and Emily Huddleston Tapp. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Chalybeate High School and was married March 7, 1947 to her devoted husband, J.C. Brown who preceded her in death on December 14, 2003. Mr. Brown was a WW II Army Veteran and an employee of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Memphis before his retirement.
  Mrs. Brown will be remembered as a faithful member of the Oakland Baptist Church where she participated in numerous church activities that included singing in the choir in earlier years. Known for her love of cooking and baking, Mrs. Brown will be remembered by many for her "Specialties" that included rolls, caramel cakes, cinnamon rolls and tea cakes.
   A dedicated homemaker, her many interests included sewing, knitting, crocheting, vegetable gardening and flower gardening. Mrs. Brown was grateful for the many accomplishments of her family and leaves behind a legacy of love and great memories for those who remain.
  Visitation for Mrs. Brown will continue Monday from 9 AM until 11 AM at Oakland Baptist Church.
  Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dr. Betty Aileen Winter and Timothy Lee Brown (Judy), both of Memphis, Emily Kay Winter (William Lee) and Mamie Sue Brown, both of Walnut, one sister, Inez Otten of Walnut, eight grandchildren, Dr. Henry Winter III, Dr. Angela Winter (Lancer), Dr. Jeff Brown (Debbie), Jason Brown, Joshua Winter (Jessica), Gregory Winter (Latacia), Dr. Kevin Winter (Haley), Ryan Winter (Kaley) and eight great grandchildren.
  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Brown , six sisters and two brothers.
  The family request that memorials be directed to Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1871 CR 101, Walnut, MS 38683.
  The American Flag at The Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Mrs. Brown's husband and all Veterans for their service to our country.... GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
