Norman Franklin Melton, 69, resident of the Tiplersville Community, passed away Thursday morning March 23, 2017 at Diversicare Retirement Center in Ripley after a brief illness.
Services honoring the life of Norman will be at 2 PM Saturday March 25 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Cisowski, pastor of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery near Walnut.
Born October 18, 1947 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Doug and Zethel Mae Richardson Melton. Norman moved at an early age with his family to Memphis and was a graduate of the Shelby County Public School System. He was employed as a security guard by the University Club in Memphis for a number of years before his retirement. He returned to his native Tippah County 15 years ago and was a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
An avid NASCAR and John Wayne fan, Norman enjoyed nature, television sports and old movies. Nothing pleased him more than being at his home in Tippah County hearing the peaceful rain fall gently on his roof. Norman will be remembered as a family oriented person who always looked forward to the holidays with his large extended family.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
