Mrs. Ora Bessie Lee Jamieson, 107, thought to be the oldest resident of Tippah County, went to be with her Lord and Savior April 10, 2016. She passed away peacefully in the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley following a brief illness. Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Jamieson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Falkner Cemetery. Born June 23, 1908 in Petal, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Rebecca Elizabeth Carter Courtney. Next to the youngest of five, Mrs. Jamieson spent the first 5 years of her life growing up on the family farm. When her mother died, her father struggled to care for his children and eventually had to make the heartbreaking decision to place them for adoption. At age 6, she was adopted by the Egbert and Wardie Hill family of Falkner. Baptized when she was 13, Mrs. Jamieson took pride in herself and on being the oldest member of Falkner Baptist Church. In 1925 she married John R. Jamieson and they owned and operated for 40 years the Jamieson Service Station in Falkner. Active in the community for years, she was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend to all. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 12 at The Ripley Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Wright (Eddie) of Texarkana, AR, a sister, Therra Jackson of Falkner, 10 grandchildren, Vicki Childers , Sherry Rutherford (Phil), Angie Cox (John David), Paula Estes (John), Kim Estes (Joe) all of Ripley, Robin Childers of Baldwyn, Lea Barkley of Falkner, Gia Falls (Steve), Tim Wright (LeAnne) , Gina Jordan (James) all of Texarkana, AR, 12 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and daughter that died at birth, a daughter and son in law, Johnnie and Bobby Childers, one son and daughter in law, Wayne and Ann Jamieson, her adoptive parents, Egbert and Wardie Hill, 2 sisters, Clara Stevens and Blanch Courtney, 2 brothers, Paul Courtney and Reverend Howard Courtney and one grandson Roger Childers.
