Randall Turney Brooks, 71, resident of the Tiplersville Community and retired long distant truck operator, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday February 5, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Brooks will be at 2 PM Friday February 9 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with long time friend, Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner.
Born January 16, 1947 in Rienzi, MS, he was the son of the late Daniel and Beatrice Brewer Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a graduate of Jumpertown High School where he was a member of the basketball team. A Baptist , Mr. Brooks proudly served his country in the Mississippi National Guard.On September 17, 1989 he married the former Peggy Settlemires, a valued employee of Ashley Furniture Corporation who survives.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Brooks had a passion for horses. Trail rides, logging and teaching his grandchildren how to ride--everything was about horses.
Always extending a hand, he never met a stranger and those who knew Mr. Brooks best will treasure their memories of his pleasant disposition, sense of humor, love of conversations and morning breakfasts at Muddy's Creek Cafe.
Visitation will continue Friday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Brooks is survived by his son, Everette Bradley "Brad" Brooks (Tina) of Ripley, a daughter, Joy Lynn Wood of Tiplersville, his sister, Lucy Hopper (Walter) of Ripley, two grandchildren, Hayley Ann Brooks and Ryan Wood and his loyal canine companion, "Hooch".
