Regina "Jean" Cianciola Barkley, resident of the Ripley Community and retired nurse, departed this life Monday morning May 15, 2017 at the Tippah County Retirement Center in Ripley. She was 86 years of age and died following a two month illness.
  Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Barkley will be at 2 PM Wednesday May 17 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with long time friend, Bro. Bill Baker officiating. A Catholic Blessing will by given by Joel Schultz of the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ripley. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner.
  Born February 12, 1931 in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late Mike and Maybelle Wilkins Cianciola. Jean received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and continued her training as a nurse assistant in the Memphis area. She was the wife of the late Olin Laverne Barkley who preceded her in death on February 17, 1983.
  Mr. and Mrs. Barkley moved with their family to Tippah County in 1977 where she was employed as a nurse's assistant at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley before her retirement in 1990.
  Jean was a Christian and a Catholic. Jean will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She possessed a great love for her family, her patients and touched the lives of many throughout her life and nursing career. She and her Tippah County friends enjoyed being a part of the Field of Dreams Adult Care Center in Booneville and she will be missed.
  Visitation will continue Wednesday at 12 Noon until service time at The Ripley Funeral home.
  Those left to cherish her memory are his sons, Steven Barkley (Iva) and Rickey Barkley, four grandchildren, Justin Barkley (Chasity), Brandon Barkley, Casey Barkley and Ashley Barkley-Hayes (Timetric), two great grandsons, Tyler and Layden Hayes and her much loved canine companion "Candy".
