 Richard "Dick" Koster, 81, well known resident of the Walnut Community, decorated US Air Force Veteran and Public Servant, died peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 following an illness of several months. A Celebration of Life Service, with Military Honors, will be announced at a later date and interment for Mr. Koster will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Moorhead, MN. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A recipient of The Purple Heart while serving his country during Vietnam , Mr. Koster was involved for over 32 years with the US Air Force, serving for 22 years in the military and for over 10 years as a military contractor. He had been a resident of the Walnut Community for many years where he was involved in community affairs ,serving as a police officer for the town of Walnut and as Constable for North Tippah County for 16 years. He enjoyed the friendships of many and will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and the outdoors.
  He is survived by his wife Margery Koster, his children, Richard D. Koster II (Nadia) of Deluth, GA, Paul Koster of Walnut, Megan Borud (Eric) of Roseau, MN and Shannon Stephney (Dan) of Fargo, ND and 3 grandchildren, Leila Catherine Koster, Yasmine Sophie Koster and Jakob Borud.
  The family request that memorials be directed to The Disabled American Veterans, 3686 South Mendenhall, Memphis, TN 38115
