Steven Allen Byrd

Steven Allen Byrd, 56, resident of the Ashland Community, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening May 24, 2017 in Benton County after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
  Funeral Services for Steve will be at 3 PM Friday May 26 at Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland with former pastor, Bro. Robert Buse officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will follow in the Calvary Church Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born April 1, 1961 in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Allen Byrd and Patty Clifton Byrd. Steve was a graduate of the Gray Academy in Ashland where he excelled in basketball.
  A Baptist with a deep devotion to the earth, Steve was a farmer for much of his life, learning his skills from his late father. When not farming he enjoyed cookouts, music and the company of friends.
  Survivors include his children, Jessica Ward (Shane) of Hickory Flat and Seth Byrd (April) of Blue Springs, a brother, Gerald Byrd (Sandra) of Falkner, five grandchildren, Trace and Ayden Ward, Alaya Owens, Sadie and Chasley Byrd, his step-mother, Jewel Byrd and a host of nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Janis McKenzie.
  Pallbearers will be Terry McNutt, Lucas Lewis, Danny Ray Loving, Nicholas and Keith Moore, John Austin Adams, Jesse Byrd, J.W. Skelton and Lowrance Byrd.
