Mrs. Venia Mathis Crow, 70, resident of Corinth, passed away Tuesday morning January 9, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
  Funeral Services cherishing the life of Mrs. Crow will be at 10 AM Friday January 12 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with her nephew Bro. Gary Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Cemetery in Alcorn County.
  Born January 12, 1947 in Tippah County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Owen and Lona Ozader Ayers Mathis. In 1990 she married her loving husband Roy H. Crow, retired farmer & lumber inspector, who survives.
  Mrs. Mathis loved the outdoors that included gardening. She will be remembered as a family oriented person that loved life and her beloved little dog, Trixie.
  Visitation for Mrs. Crow will continue Friday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Bonnie Crow (Ray, Jr.) of Corinth, two sons, Jerry Gates (Gina) of Ripley and Sammy Gates of Niota, IL, a brother, Arlin Mathis (Glenda) of Ripley, five grandchildren, Justin Gates, Brandie O'Quinn, Erika Sanders, Jeremy Gates and Brintlee Gates, seven great grandchildren and a son in law, Stan Roberson.
  Mrs. Crow was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Roberson, three brothers, Thomas, Mitchell and Danny Mathis, two nephews, Hal and Jeff Mathis and one niece, Bernice Dunn.
