 Virginia White Shortnacy, 84, resident of the Keownville Community in Union County with relatives and friends throughout Tippah,Union and Lee Counties, passed away peacefully Friday December 29, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Ms. Shortnacy will be at 11 AM Friday January 5 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton of Ripley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Ripley. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A native of Lee County, Ms. Shortancy was born July 13, 1933 the daughter of the late Thomas and Mellie Parham White. She was employed by the Ram Golf Corporation for over 20 years before her retirement.
  Affectionately known by many as "Ma" and the Matriarch of her family, Ms. Shortnacy will be remembered for her love of many outdoor activities. She was a Christian and enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning , collecting dishes and rummage sales. Ms. Shortnacy was blessed and loved by a large family that looked to her for strength and guidance in both good and difficult times.
  Visitation will be from 9 AM until 11 AM Friday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters Phyllis Corbin and Doris McKeown of Jonesboro, AR, Mary Lee of Little Rock, AR and Stella Marsh of Wisner, NE, two sons, Robert and Bryan Shortnacy of New Albany, a brother, Howard White (Loretta) of Baldwyn , 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.
  She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother in law, Dorothy and Steve Peak and four brothers, Jay, Roy, Jerry and Bobby White.
