W.C. "Red" Barnes, 84, resident of the Tiplersville Community and husband of Ruth Bobo Barnes, passed away Wednesday morning August 10, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral Services honoring the life of "Red" will be at 11 AM Saturday August 13 at the Souls Harbor Apostolic Church near Walnut. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Friday, August 12 and will continue at 9 AM Saturday August 13 until service time. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Red was born October 14, 1931, the last of 10 children, to the late Oscar and Birtie Wilbanks Barnes. A native of Memphis, "Red" was a well known self-employed diesel mechanic who owned and operated Red's Diesel Service for many years before his retirement. He had a passion for stock car racing and enjoyed his earlier years at the Riverside Dirt Track. In 1989 he and his family moved to his childhood home in Tiplersville, MS. He was an avid believer and instilled the values of hard work, compassion and generosity in his children and grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor more than anything - just ask the doctors, nurses and health care workers he encountered in his later years.
In addition to his wife, "Red" leaves his children, Freda Turner (Donald) of Corinth, Randal Curtis Barnes (Linda) of Southaven and Kevin Barnes (Brittney) of Walnut, his grandchildren, Christopher, John, Bailey, Amy and Christy and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

The Ripley Funeral Home invites you to sign the guestbook and share memories with the Barnes Family.
