Betty Jean Barnes-Mercer, resident of the Ripley Community and lifelong Tippah Countian, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon June 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 44 years of age and died following a six month illness.
Services cherishing the life of Betty Jean will be at 2 PM Thursday June 15 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Hall and Bro. Randy Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born January 1, 1973 in Ripley, she was the daughter of Linda Kaye Floyd of Ripley and the late Franklin Dee Barnes. She received her education in the Ripley School System and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Betty Jean will be remembered as a fun loving person that enjoyed both music, dancing and outdoor activities that included fishing, hunting and flower gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Tuesday Hall (Prentes Edgeston), a sister, Shelia Renae Sims, a brother, David Barnes (Monica), four grandchildren, Zohey Hendrix, Aaliyah Edgeston, Paytton and Charollotte Bowen all of Ripley, her best friend, Rhonda Henderson and beloved pet canines, Chevy, Ace, Bella, Diesel and Sadie. She was also preceded in death by her special father, Tommy Bates, her former husband, Randle Mercer and a brother, Robert Barnes.
