Bettye Jean Wingo Obituary

On Friday morning November 16, 2018, Bettye Jean Wingo, 84, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Tippah County Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral Services treasuring the life of Mrs. Wingo will be at 2 PM Sunday November 18 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Irvin officiating. Personal reflections will be shared by her grandson, Bradley Bullock.
Mrs. Wingo was born May 31, 1934 in Clay County, MS, the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Ann Rhea Thompson. She received her education in the West Point School System and was married September 5, 1969 to her beloved husband, J.W. Wingo, United States Army Veteran and retired owner of Wingo Pest Control Service in Ripley, who survives.
A member of Mt. View Baptist Church and a resident of Tippah County since 1968, Mrs. Wingo was a homemaker throughout her life who loved and cared for her family. An excellent cook, she will be remembered for always bringing the family around the dining table for a meal. Whether it was birthdays, holidays or the end of a hard day, she always appreciated the presence of her family.
Mrs. Wingo had a zest for life and enjoyed music, traveling as long as her health permitted, reading the newspapers front to back and her "granddogs", Charlie Pete and BB. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories for her family to treasure.
Visitation for Mrs. Wingo will be Sunday from 12 noon to 2 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by a daughter, Sue Love of Falkner, one sister, Dorothy Parker of McComb, one brother, C.B. Thompson (Patricia) of West Point, three grandchildren, C.J. Escobar, Bradley Bullock (Barbara) and Joey Bullock, four great grandchildren, Faith, Olivia, Craig and Kate Bullock, a daughter in law, Sandra Love, a sister in law, Sally Thompson and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family request that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children"s Hospital or to the donor's favorite charity.
