Curtis D. Mauney

Curtis Dulane Mauney, 83, resident of the Chapman Community and retired grocery store owner, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday October 15, 2018 following an extended illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Mauney will be at 2 PM Thursday October 18 at The Chapman Church of Christ with Minister Mark Lindley officiating. Burial will follow in Chapman Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born February 27, 1935 in Ripley, he was the son of the late James Ransom and Lola Van Smith Mauney. Mr. Mauney was a 1954 graduate of Pine Grove High School and was married December 18, 1954 to his beloved wife, Annie Maynon Smithey Mauney who survives.
  A member of Chapman Church of Christ, Mr. Mauney had a strong work ethic. He knew the value not only of hard work but also of a dollar. In earlier years, Mr. Mauney managed a local dairy farm before owning and operating Mauney's Grocery in the Chapman Community for 23 years before his retirement.
  Mr. Mauney will be remembered as a patriotic person who loved God, his country and his fellowman. A faithful Christian, he enjoyed attending his church and was a devoted husband, father and friend. Watching boxing, football, basketball, Westerns and Duck Dynasty on television were favorite pasttimes.
  Visitation will continue Thursday from 1 PM to 2 PM at Chapman Church of Christ.
  In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two sons, Roger Mauney (Connie J.) of Ripley and Randle Mauney (Vera J. ) of Corinth, two sisters, Rannie Butler (David) of Southaven, Jamie Akin (Kenneth) of Olive Branch, two brothers, Dale Derrick (Bonnie) of Ashland , Jay C. Derrick (Josephine) of Murfreesboro, TN and a host of nieces and nephews.
