Danny Joe "Duck" Derrick Obituary

 Danny Joe "Duck" Derrick, 55, resident of the Peoples Community and well known in Tippah County as a "jack of all trades", passed away Tuesday morning December 11, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services for Mr. Derrick will be at 2 PM Friday December 14 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Peoples Cemetery.
  Born March 24, 1963 in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Eugene and Betty Jean Whaley Derrick. Mr. Derrick received his education in the Ripley School System and was a self employed carpenter and "handyman"until his recent illness.
   Mr. Derrick was a Christian and will be remembered as a talented and creative person that loved humor and people. Known by many as the "$25 repairman", Mr. Derrick enjoyed repairs and carpentry which included building log homes and odd jobs that he performed for his family and friends. His larger than life personality will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know this special person who lived life to the fullest.
  Visitation for Mr. Derrick will be Friday from 12 noon until 2 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Blessed with a large family, those left to honor his memory include his children, Lavenia Derrick of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Devin Joe Wallace (Haley) , proudly serving his country in the United States National Guard stationed in Kuwait, four sisters, Glenda Cagle (James) of Walnut, Ruth Derrick and Pam Derrick both of Ripley and Greta Derrick of Corinth, two brothers, Rickey Derrick (Darnell) of Ripley and Jerry Lee Derrick of Corinth and two grandchildren, Jaxson Reid Wallace and Saryah White.
  He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Derrick, Sr., Buddy Derrick and Larry Derrick, one niece, Mary Jean Derrick and two nephews, Donald Derrick, Jr and Carl Finerson.
