 Dora Izetta Smith Jeter, 91, resident of the Ripley Community and lifelong Tippah Countian, passed away Sunday evening March 26, 2017 at Diversicare Retirement Center in Ripley.
  Services celebrating the well lived life of Mrs. Jeter will be at 2 PM Wednesday March 29 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Golden Hill Cemetery near Ripley.
  Born February 14, 1926 in Tippah County, she was the daughter of the late John Issac and Alma Sexton Smith. Mrs. Jeter received her education in the Tippah County Public School System and was married to the late Roy Edgar Jeter who preceded her in death on November 20, 1978.
  Mrs. Jeter was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who held the most important occupation of all .... a devoted homemaker. She served as a source of strength for her family in good times and in difficult times. Mrs. Jeter was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and had a lifelong love for nature and outdoor activities that included raising her cows and working in her flower and vegetable garden. Her family always came first and she happily looked forward to their visits.
  Visitation for Mrs. Jeter will continue Wednesday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Roy Wade Jeter (JoNell) and Alan Jeter (Pat) both of Ripley, a brother, Joe Smith of Ripley, 2 grandchildren, Stacy Pannell (Marty) and Brad Jeter (Tanya) both of Ripley and a great grandson, Colton Morrison. She was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Gary and Jo Ann Jeter, 6 sisters, Carrie Etta Meeks, Onnie Jeter, Dolly Turner, Callie Turner, Effie and Lessie Smith and 4 brothers, Raymond, Lee, Charlie and Monroe Smith.
  Those honored to serve as active and honorary pallbearers will be Charles Smith, Johnny Meeks, Jason and Ryan Jeter, Wayne Lacy, Colton Morrison, Wayne Turner, Paul Luna, Lynwood & Betty Sheckleford, Reed & Remy Jeter and Junior Meeks.
