Emmett Edward Laster, 84, resident of Myrtle and retired employee of the Garrison Farms in the West Union Community , died Monday January 15, 2018 at the New Albany Health & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services for Mr. Laster will be at 12 Noon Saturday January 20 at the Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at Potts Camp with visitation at the church one hour before services. Burial will be at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery near Charleston, MS. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A native of Lambert, MS, Mr. Laster was born April 26, 1933, the son of the late James and Julia Gullick Laster. He was a Christian and a resident of Union County for 32 years.
  An animal lover who enjoyed fishing and old western movies on television, Mr. Laster was devoted to his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
  Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy August (Angline Joseph) of Myrtle, a son, Emmett Edward Laster, Jr. of Potts Camp, the mother of his children, Mary Willard of Myrtle, two grandchildren Racco Rogers and April Kimmons (Chauncey),and four great grandchildren.
  He was also preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers.
