Floyd G. Cannon, 88, life-long resident of the Walnut Community and retired self-employed logger and farmer, passed away Sunday morning September 23, 2018 at the Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth following an extended illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Cannon will be at 4 PM Tuesday, September 25 at the Community Pentecostal Church near Walnut where he was a member with Visitation 2 hours before services. Bro. Titus Mathis and Bro. Ronald Wilbanks will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by the Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born July 7, 1930 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Carl and Nancy Wilbanks Cannon. He received his education in the Walnut School System and was married April 5, 1950 to his beloved wife Bessie Rebecca Cannon, who survives.
  An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Mr. Cannon will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his love for outdoor activities that included cattle, raising moon and stars watermelons, coon and deer hunting and special times with his much loved family.
  In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his son, Mike Cannon (Patsy) of Corinth, his granddaughter, Ashley Smith (Dusty), great granddaughter, Hallie Kate Smith, a sister, Wilma Stanley of Houston, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
  He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Bell Nelson, Lettie Mohandro, and Velma Barnes.
