Frances "Fran" Quick Gay Obituary

Frances "Fran" Quick Gay, 73, resident of the Falkner Community and long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, passed away peacefully Friday May 11, 2018 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo following an extended illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Gay will be at 3 PM Tuesday May 15 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with the State Chaplain for the VFW Axillary of the State of Mississippi, Chaplain Aletta Butler officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. A private burial will be in the Falkner Cemetery.
  Born July 2, 1944 in Danville, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Beverly Wynn Quick. Mrs. Gay received her education in the Niles Public School System in Niles, Michigan and was married July 10, 1969 to her beloved husband James Durrett "Jim" Gay, retired United States Air Force Veteran, who survives.
  Mrs. Gay was employed as a secretary for the United States Government until her retirement in 1996. Upon retirement, she was a dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary which included the positions of Post President, District President, Disaster Preparedness Chairman, Legislative Chairman, State Guard and State Conductress. Mr. and Mrs. Gay's lifetime was devoted to their family, their country and their Veterans. It was full of travels, adventures and the most unwavering commitment and true love for each other.
  A friend to many, anyone in her life became family and she treated them as such. Mrs. Gay taught not only her children, but all who knew her , determination, perseverance and a belief in oneself that you can accomplish anything. She will be remembered for her love of singing and everyone else had a love for listening to her.
  In addition to her husband of 48 years, she is survived by three daughters, Tammy Cowart of Phoenix, AZ, Traci LeNoble (Mike) of Little Chute, WI and Lynn Gay of Fultondale, AL, a sister, Barbara Petis of Portland, OR, two brothers, Ronald Quick (Linda) of Kaukauna, WI and Oscar Quick of South Bend, IN, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
  She was also preceded in death by a brother in law, Laverne Petis.
