Henry Jack Batastini Obituary

Henry Jack Batastini, 89, resident of Ripley and long time employee of Dover Elevator Company in Middleton, TN, passed away peacefully Thursday evening June 28, 2018 at Diversicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Ripley following a brief illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the well lived life of Mr. Batastini will be at 2 PM Sunday July 1 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his minister, Dr. Micah Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.
  Born February 3, 1929 in Phenix City, AL, he was the son of the late D.E. and Winifred Rentfrow Batastini. He moved at an early age with his parents to Memphis, graduated Southside High School and continued his education with emphasis on technology. Mr. Batastini proudly served in the United States Air Force and was married February 23, 1951 to his beloved wife, Elizabeth Barkley of Tippah County. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage before her death on December 28, 2007.
  Mr. Batastini and his family moved to Tippah County in 1967 and he was a valued employee of the Dover Elevator Company in Middleton, TN for over 25 years, serving as a supervisor for the company before his retirement.
  Mr. & Mrs. Batastini were former residents of the Tiplersville and Falkner Communities before moving to Ripley. He was a Christian and a member of the Ripley First Baptist Church at the time of his death. In earlier years he was an active member of Falkner Baptist Church where he served in numerous positions of responsibility that included song director, deacon and sunday school teacher.
  Mr. Batastini will be remembered for his knowledge of many topics and his straight forward comments to family and friends. He possessed a servant's heart that included assisting those in his neighborhood with repairs and security precautions. He took much pride in his pristine yard and was blessed with mental alertness throughout his life.
  Visitation will continue today from 12 noon until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Survivors include his daughter, Dana Baker (John) of Ripley, his son, David Batastini (Sherri) of Jensen Beach, FL, four grandchildren, Ashley Smith (Johnny), Abbey Mullikin, Josh Richardson (Megan) and Katie Richardson, seven great grandchildren, two sisters in law, Betty Scott and Mary Ruth Barkley and two brothers in law, Eddie Barkley and Terry Barkley (Ethelene).
  He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
