Ida Mavelle Hopper, 84, resident of Centerville, GA and beloved wife of the late Claude Hopper, Jr, a native
Tippah Countian, passed away unexpectedly Sunday August 12, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral Services cherishing the life of Mrs. Hopper will be at 3 PM Saturday August 18 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Keith Carpenter officiating. Personal reflections will be given by John Hopper and Myrna Kraft. Burial will be Monday August 20, 2018 in the Corinth National Cemetery.
Born June 20, 1934 in Delta City, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Ferdie Lee and Mollie Cook Lick. Mrs. Hopper was a 1952 graduate of E.E. Bass Junior/Senior High School in Greenville, MS. She was married November 7, 1959 to Tippah County native, Claude Ernest Hopper, Jr., a proud United States Air Force Career Veteran who preceded her in death on December 26, 2016.
In 1974, Mr. and Mrs. Hopper moved with their family to Georgia where she employed for over 20 years in the civil service division of Robins Air Force Base until her retirement.
A Christian, Mrs. Hopper will be remembered for her love of flower gardening and the joy she received from being a devoted reader of her Bible. An active woman all her life, she was dedicated to her family, whom she loved dearly, her friends who were many and her faith in God.
Visitation for Mrs. Hopper will be Saturday from 1 PM to 3 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Her memories will be treasured by her children, John Hopper (Ina) of Cartersville, GA, Beverly Buehrig (Dana) and Christy Kennedy (Billy), both of Port Saint Lucie, FL and James Hopper of Lake Lanier, GA and eight grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lazelle Williams.
