Jerry Kent Sanderson, 74, lifelong resident of Ripley and retired business owner, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday morning, November 29, 2018, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
Funeral Services, with Military Honors, for Mr. Sanderson will be at 3 PM Sunday, December 2, in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Reflections will be given by his sons, Stoney and Shane Sanderson and longtime friend, Bro. Edd McCafferty.
Born November 11, 1944, in Ripley, he was the son of the late Milton and Mable Huddleston Sanderson. Mr. Sanderson was a 1963 graduate of Ripley High School.    Mr. Sanderson was a lifelong resident of Tippah County and member of Whittentown Baptist Church. In earlier years, he was a valued employee of Alton Jordan at the Ripley Heating & Air. He later formed his company, J & J Heating and Air.
A car enthusiast throughout his life, Mr. Sanderson enjoyed drag racing and had a passion for rebuilding engines. Affectionately known as "Poppa" by many and a "people person", he had a love for his Lord and his family.
Visitation for Mr. Sanderson will be from 1 PM to 3 PM Sunday, December 2, at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, he leaves three sons, Stoney Sanderson (Kim) of Ripley, Shane Sanderson (Cathy) of New Albany and Chris Sanderson of Ripley, three daughters, Tori, Traci and Tonya Phipps all of Ripley, one brother, Ralph Sanderson (Margie) of Ripley, two custodial children, Jada and Eli Ellis of Ripley, an honorary family member, Jack Pruitte of Ripley, eleven grandchildren, Dalton, Noah and Kailey Sanderson, Summer and Lenzi Sanderson, Ava and Harlee Sanderson, Paige Ellis, Megan Pannell (Chris) , Emily Cissom and Eden Sonwineski (Lee), twelve great grandchildren, a special cousin, Linda Huddleston Hogue, special friend, Mike Roberts and a host of family and friends.
