Jimmy Dewitt Luna, 74, resident of Ripley and beloved husband, father, brother and "Pawpaw Jim" , passed away Thursday morning June 7, 2018 at his residence in Ripley following an extended illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Luna will be at 2 PM Sunday June 10 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Stegall of Dumas Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery near Ripley.
Born October 28, 1943 in Ripley, he was the youngest son of nine children born to the late Charlie "Ed" and Odie Pearl Camburn Luna. Mr. Luna was a graduate of Falkner High School and was married on October 3, 1997 to Charleston, MS native, Kathy Mae Thomas, who survives.
Mr. Luna was employed as an area truck operator in Memphis with companies that included Jones Trucking Company and ABF Freight System until his retirement. In 2002 he returned to his native Tippah County to be near his large family.
He will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of selling cars, working on his truck and enjoying every opportunity to be with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all those that had the pleasure in knowing him- yet his memories will live on.
Visitation for Mr. Luna will continue Sunday from 12 Noon until 2 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife of 20 years, he is survived by his children, Joe Luna (Belinda), Michelle Jean and Stacey Luna , all of Ripley and Denise Jack (Tommy) of Collierville, TN, two sisters, Elois Linville and Linda Burks, both of Ripley, three step daughters, Amy Holmes of Blue Mountain, Vicki Lynn Leonard (Freddie) of Judsonia, AR and Becky Combs (Paul) of Advance, N.C., twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and his loyal canine, "Petey".
Mr. Luna was also preceded in death by six brothers, Troy, Billy, Lee Earl, Gerald Wayne, James Allen and Randle Luna and two grandchildren.
