On Sunday October 14, 2018, Joseph Mark Gaillard, 54, well known painting contractor in the Ripley and Tippah County areas, passed away of natural causes at his home near Ripley.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mark will be at 3 PM Wednesday October 17 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with visitation one hour before services. Bro. Doc Shelton of Ripley will be officiating. Burial will follow in Weirs Chapel Cemetery.
Mark was born November 9, 1963 in Tippah County. He was the youngest son of the late Luther Marlin and Lavonne Betty Pecha Gaillard and a 1981 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
A Christian and lifelong Tippah Countian, Mark began painting at an early age. His work ethic and professional painting skills became known throughout the area. When commercial or residential contractors needed painters , "The Gaillard Boys" were the ones to call. He took much pride and care in his work, however his proudest moment came on November 19, 2002 when he became a father to his beloved daughter, Hannah.
Mark's spare time consisted of fishing and "piddling" around his home. He always had a project, if something needed fixing, he fixed it - needed building, he built it and, of course painted it.
Mark will be remembered for his passion of music. He and local friends formed the band "Still Country" where Mark played the bass guitar. Mark made many friends throughout the years and his memory will always be treasured by those who knew him.
In addition to his daughter, Hannah, Mark is survived by a brother, James Gaillard (Lorie) of Chalybeate, two nephews, Lucas and Ben Gaillard both of Ripley and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Lucas and Ben Gaillard, Benny Jackson, Greg Smith, Robert Mullins and Davey Horton.
The Ripley Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gaillard family and invites you to share memoreis.
