Kenneth Michael "Mike" Mauney, 61, resident of the Dry Creek Community and well known Panther Athletic Supporter, passed away Friday evening, April 5, 2019 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.
Funeral Services remembering the life of Mike will be at 1 PM Wednesday April 10 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
Mike was born March 6, 1958 in Memphis, TN, the son of Ruthie Duvall Mauney of the Dry Creek Community and the late Arnold Kenneth Mauney.
As a young person, Mike was active in the Boy Scouts of America, a graduate of the Elliston Baptist Academy in Memphis and was employed in the restaurant industry most of his life.
A Christian and native of Memphis, Mike became an entrepreneur at an early age and his love of food took him to Florence, Alabama where he owned "Big Mike's" restaurants for a number years before moving to Tippah County 20 years ago. He managed the Mauney family owned "Panther's Den" that was a popular after school stop for the students . He was a strong supporter of the Pine Grove Schools and the Pine Grove Community, always participating in fundraisers that benefited the school and community.
Through his larger than life personality, big smile, kind words and helping hand, it is evident that he made a lasting legacy and impact in his community that will not soon be forgotten.
Visitation for Mike will be Tuesday April 9 from 5 PM to 8 PM in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday April 10 until service time.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by a brother, Keith Mauney (Pam) of Olive Branch, two nephews, Kasey Mauney of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Alex Mauney of Olive Branch, a special cousin, Barry Rhinehart (Annette) and family and many friends.
