Maola Edwards Rainey Obituary

Our precious mother, Maola Edwards Rainey, departed this life at the age of 93 on Wednesday evening October 3, 2018 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.
   Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Mrs. Rainey will be at 11 AM Saturday October 6 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Taylor officiating. Scripture and prayer will be given by Dr. Micah Carter. Burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.
   Mrs. Rainey was born July 18, 1925 in Bee House, TX and was one of ten children born to the late Gary and Beulah Mae Tabor Edwards. She received her education in the Bronte, Texas School System and was married December 10, 1945 to the late Robert Lee Rainey, a proud World War II Army Veteran who preceded her in death on April 10, 1987. Mrs. Rainey was employed by several companies that included The Texas Ammunition Plant, Monarch Tile Company, Blue Bell Shirt Factory and the South Tippah School District.
   A member of Christ United Methodist Church in Ripley, Mrs. Rainey lived by her faith and modeled God's love daily. Affectionately known as "Nannie", Mrs. Rainey will be remembered for her love of family which was her greatest passion and source of pride. Collecting thimbles from various states, knitting , crocheting, singing and reading her Bible were pasttime favorites. The family matriarch, Mrs. Rainey lived a long life full of love and happiness; her family takes comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in her Heavenly Home.
   Visitation will continue Saturday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
   Blessed with a large and loving family, those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Barbara Gattis (Danny) of Pontotoc, Jane Holbrook and Joy Rainey, both of Ripley, three sons, Bobby Rainey (Peggy) and Tommy Rainey (Sharon) both of Ripley and Gary Rainey (Debbie) of Senatobia, one step-son, Jack Rainey of Baton Rogue, LA, three sisters, Joyce Jones of Ripley, Judy Williams of Early, TX and Jill Hale of Chattanooga, TN, two brothers, Bill Edwards (Mary Ann) of Seattle, WA, and Gary Edwards of Cut and Shoot, TX, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren and a host of family.
   She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Melba Rogers, Alene Easley, and Dottie Edwards; one brother, Jack Edwards, one grandson, Robert Lee Willis Rainey, two step-grandsons, Gary and Michael Rainey, her mother and father in law and her sisters and brothers in law.
   The flag at The Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Mrs. Rainey's husband and all Veterans for their service to our country...GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
