Michael Norman Duncan, 64, resident of Southaven with family members in Tippah County, departed this life Saturday March 24, 2018 at his residence in Southaven,MS. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
Graveside Services for Mike will be at 2 PM Tuesday March 27 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner with church pastor, Bro. Jeremy Huey officiating. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born February 15, 1954 in Mobile, AL , he is the son of Lynelle Elliott Duncan of Olive Branch and the late Norman "Herschell" Duncan. Mike moved with his family to Memphis at an early age where he was a 1973 graduate of Wooddale High School . He continued his education at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and later returned to Mobile. Mike enjoyed living and working near the coast for a number of years before moving to Desoto County 20 years ago to be near his family. He was a devoted son to his mother calling her every day to tell her he loved her. He adored his niece and nephew. An accomplished historian, Mike will be remembered for his love of interacting with people. Before his retirement, he received much pleasure serving as a shuttle bus operator for a casino located in Tunica.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his sister, Mary N. Duncan of Olive Branch, Mark Duncan (Melynda) of Cordova, a niece, Claire Hajek of Olive Branch, a nephew, Blake Hajek (Rebecca) of Memphis and a special aunt and uncle, Winnie and Dale Abbott of Ripley.
He was also preceded in death by his loyal pet canines, "Robby" and "Bimbo".
