On Monday morning, July 23, 2018, our loving momma, mamaw, sister and friend, Nancy Ann Sides Ray, lifelong resident of the Hopewell Community, departed this life into her eternal home. She was 71 years of age and passed away peacefully in the comfort of her daughter's home in Forney, TX following a year long illness.
Funeral services cherishing the life of Nancy will be at 1 PM Saturday, July 28 at Marlow Church of Christ with Bro. Donald Roberson officiating and reflections given by others. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Benton County. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born May 6, 1947 in Walnut, she was preceded in death by her parents Earline Barnes Sides and Frank Sides, Sr. Nancy received her education at Ashland High School and was a valued employee of the Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation in Collierville for over 30 years before her retirement.
A member of Marlow Church of Christ, Nancy will be remembered as an outstanding baker that included her famous peanut butter cookies and specialty cakes. She enjoyed canning fruits and making homemade jams, jellies and preserves. Fishing, gardening, trips to Tunica, word search puzzles & drinking lots of coffee were pasttime favorites. Nancy also enjoyed watching television and found much pleasure in the ID & Discovery Channels, Gameshow Network and anything about Alaska.
Visitation for Nancy will be from 5 PM to 9 PM Friday, July 27 at Marlow Church of Christ and will continue Saturday until service time.
Those left to treasure her memory include her daughter, Karen Feinglas of Forney, TX, three sisters, Amie "Punk" Mardis (Sydney Hopkins) of Walnut, Kathy Mauney (Bobby) of Ripley and Brenda Witt (Jimmy) of Falkner, two brothers, Frank "Junior" Sides (Joyce) of Michie, TN and Wayne "Buddy" Sides (Linda) of Corinth, four grandchildren, Misty Feinglas, Brandon Ray (Alicia), Jonna Knight (Rob) and Robin Voyles (J.V.), her nine great grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Amber, Ansley, Haiden, Christian, Khloee, Claire, Lily, Finley and Reed, a son-in-law, Robbie Hopkins of Walnut and a host of family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Hopkins, and two sisters, Mattie Jane Barber and Betty Tuscana.
Nancy's nephews are honored to serve as pallbearers.
