Roger Dale Bowen, 71, resident of the Ripley Community and retired Tippah County Law Enforcement Officer, entered into eternal rest Monday October 15 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth following an extended illness.
  Services honoring the life of Mr. Bowen will be at 12 Noon Thursday October 18 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscumbia Baptist Church Cemetery in Booneville.
  Born November 21, 1946 in Portageville, Missouri he was the son of the late Charlie and Clyease Thompson Bowen and received his education in the Thrasher School System in Prentiss County.
  A resident of Tippah County for over 40 years and a Christian, Mr. Bowen was employed for many years by the Ripley Police Department and Tippah County Sheriff's Department before retiring for health reasons. He also had served as Constable for the North Half of Tippah County.
  Known for his love of "bartering", Mr. Bowen took much pride in his appearance and will be remembered for his love of fishing and special times with his large family and many friends. He adored his grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
  Visitation for Mr. Bowen will be Thursday from 10 AM to 12 Noon at The Ripely Funeral Home.
  Those left to treasure his memory include his seven children, Anthony Bowen, Greg Bowen (Tammy) and Gayla Stephenson (Mark) all of Booneville, Steve Bowen, Michelle Winkles (Elvis), Shane Bowen (Lisa), and Justin Bowen all of Ripley, one sister, Donna Johnson (Kenneth) of Killen, AL, one brother, Johnny Bowen (Jamie) of Booneville , seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and the mothers of his children, Linda Lambert and Nellie Mills.
  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sherry King.
  The family expresses their sincere thanks to all the healthcare providers for Mr. Bowen during his illness.
