Ronald Lee "Ron" Alexander, 64, well known resident of Walnut and a person active for much of his life in the religious, community and civic affairs of Tippah County, peacefully went to be with Jesus Friday evening August 31,2018 at his residence.
Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Ron will be at 2 PM Tuesday September 4 at Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut with his nephew, Dr. Chris Alexander of The Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson, GA officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born June 17, 1954 in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late William Bruce and Ruby Jean Palmer Alexander. Ron was a 1972 graduate of Woodale High School in Memphis where he was a member of the track team. He received his Associate Degree in Drafting and Design from Northeast Mississippi Community College and continued his education at Mississippi State University. On August 4, 1979 he married his beloved wife, the former Vickie Bell of Walnut, a nurse with Methodist Germantown Hospital, who survives.
Ron was a valued sales representative for the Bilt-Rite Corporation for 25 years before his retirement. He also served on the North Tippah School Board for 15 years.
A member of Harmony Baptist Church, Ron enjoyed music and was a talented singer. His talents began in high school and led him to a 25 year music director position at Walnut Baptist Church. Ron was also a former member of The Leader's Quartet and found pleasure leading worship at the revival services of other churches. He served as a deacon at Walnut Baptist Church for over 30 years and served as church treasurer for 8 years.
Ron will be remembered as a devoted father who took every opportunity to watch his children play sports. Woodworking and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys were favorite pastimes. His most recent enjoyment was sharing times and pleasures with his twin grandsons.
Visitation for Ron will continue Tuesday from 1 PM until service time at Harmony Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his children, Aubrey Broome (Neal) of Brandon and Ryain Alexander of Walnut, two brothers, Eddie Alexander (Billie Sue) of Memphis, TN and Danny Alexander of New York, NY and his twin grandsons, Max and Miles Broome of Brandon.
