 Ruby Walker Hopper, 86, resident of the Ripley Community and lifelong Tippah Countian, passed away of natural causes Thursday afternoon October 19, 2017 at her beloved home near Ripley where she had resided for over 50 years.
  Family and friends will gather at 3 PM Saturday October 21 at Lowry Methodist Church Cemetery for a Graveside Funeral Service honoring the long life of Mrs. Hopper. The officiating minister will be family friend, Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Born July 22, 1931 in Tippah County, Mrs. Hopper was the daughter of the late Anderson Pete Walker and Josephine Pannell Walker. She received her education in the Tippah County School System and was married September 22, 1948 to her husband, Lavern Hopper, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2011.
  Mrs. Hopper was a devoted homemaker throughout her life and was also associated with her husband in the family farm operation before their retirement. She was a member of Lowry United Methodist Church and enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning as long as health permitted.
  In earlier years, Mr. and Mrs. Hopper looked forward to their weekly Saturday night gatherings enjoying singing and playing favorite musical instruments. Quilting was a favorite pasttime in the winter months for Mrs. Hopper.
  Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Marie Shackelford (Joe Larry ), Irene Hopper and Billy Joe Hopper (Johna) all of Ripley, a sister, Gladys Bernard of Brownsville, TN, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Shackelford (Tricia) , Erin Hollis (Casey), Russ Buntin (Cindy), Jacob Hopper (Anna), Jordan Hopper (Randa) and John Mark Hopper, eight great grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah and Caleb Hollis, Harley Shackelford, Kaleigh Buntin, Brayden Brazil, Preslie and Fynlie Hopper.
  Mrs. Hopper was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelby Buntin, great granddaughter, Ashley Buntin, two sisters, Shirley Walker and Kat Kubica and a brother, Bud Walker.
  "WHEN TOMORROW BEGINS WITHOUT ME, DON'T EVER THINK WE ARE FAR APART, FOR EVERY TIME YOU THINK OF ME--I WILL BE RIGHT HERE WITHIN YOUR HEART."
