Samuel Felix Norris, 83, lifelong resident of the Ashland Community, United States Air Force Veteran and well known retired Postal Carrier, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at the Ashland Health & Rehabilitation Center in Benton County following a brief illness.
Funeral Services, with Military Honors, will be Wednesday April 18 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton of Ripley officiating. Burial will follow at The Ashland City Cemetery in Benton County.
Born November 6, 1934 in Ashland, he was the son of the late Otis and Charlsie Walker Norris. Mr. Norris was a graduate of Ashland High School and was married to his beloved wife, the former Louise Lewis, retired employee of the Benton County Sheriff's Department, who survives.
A Christain, Mr. Norris proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a U.S. Postal Carrier in Marshall County for over 25 years before his retirement.
Mr. Norris was a wonderful and committed husband, amazing father and grandfather. He was loved and respected by all those he met due to his personality, honesty, fairness and caring spirit. Mr. Norris will be remembered for his love of his community and the many friendships that he developed on his mail route. A patriotic person, he enjoyed the outdoors and took much pride in caring for his yard.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 12 Noon until service time Wednesday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Lisa Tolley (Steve) of Decaturville, TN and Lynda Strickland (Stanley) of Ashland, a brother, Bobby Norris (Dorothy) of Collierville, TN, three grandchildren, Amy Tolley of Decaturville, TN, Skyler Strickland (Stephanie) of Killeen, TX and John Thomas Sams III of Ellisville, MS.
He was also preceded in death by a son, John Sams, a sister, Eldeana Linebarger and a brother, James Norris.
