Timothy Lee Burke Obituary

Timothy Lee Burke, 59, resident of Blue Mountain, proud United States Veteran and a person who dedicated his life in service to his country, community and those less fortunate, died Tuesday evening February 20, 2018 from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle near Blue Mountain.
   Funeral Services, with Military Honors will be at 3 PM Thursday March 1 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his pastor Bro. Witt Lewis of Hillcrest Baptist Church in New Albany officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans National Cemetery in Corinth.
   Born March 9, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tim was the son of the late Gene and Joyce Moore Burke. He was a graduate of the Michigan Public School System and continued his education while serving 29 years in the Air Force Reserve. Tim was associated with the Unites States Postal Service for 25 years, involved for much of his life with the Eight Days of Hope, and served on the Team Rubicon for Military Disaster Response.
   Tim had a life-long love for acting, and participated in numerous theater productions. He was a former resident of Southaven before moving to Blue Mountain and will be remembered as a good hearted loving family oriented man. At the time of his death Tim was serving as a mentor to the residents of the Dismas Charities for prisoner rehabilitation in Tupelo. His entire life was one of giving and serving to his fellow man. He will not soon be forgotten.
   A visitation for Mr. Burke will be from 1 PM to 3 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
   In addition to his wife, Darlene, those left to honor his memory include his children, Naomi Burke and Tyler Burke, both of Grand Rapids, MI and T.J. Burke (Trisha) of Kentwood, MI, four step-children, Tabitha and Charlena Pickett, both of Muskegon, MI, Israel Pickett (Sherry) of Grand Rapids, MI and Sonny James (Jenni) of Rockford, MI, two sisters, Shirley Avery (Leon) andd Jen Cunningham (Chad), two brothers, Steve Burke (Heather) and Jerry Callen, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
   He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Burke.
   The American Flag at the Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Tim and all Veterans' for their service to our Country...God Bless America!!!
